Part 1 - Creation: The Foundation of the Gospel
Overview: The Creation of the World
Synopsis
The gospel message originates from the first chapter of the Bible, the
creation account. God's work in the creation of the heavens and earth, and
His ensuing rest, is used in the scriptures as a model for two other works
of God. These are the creation of the nation of Israel and the creation of
the Church. The establishment of Israel is a work of redemption, as is the
creation of God's eternal people, the Church. God's seventh day rest in the
six-day work of creation models the finished work of redemption. Israel's
rest in their redemption is modeled by the Sabbath Day rest, a rest that
honors God's finished work of creation. The believer's rest in Christ's
redemptive work, in turn, is modeled by the rest Israel is to have in their
Redeemer.
