Part 5 - Resting by Faith
Overview: Faith in the Creator
Synopsis
The believer is called to both a rest in Christ and to love and good
works. Rest in Jesus Christ is a rest from trying to duplicate the work of
Christ. This is to receive, solely through faith, the standing
that Christ provides. Love and good works are the fruit of this standing in
God's kingdom. They are the work of God's Spirit who works through the
believer. Nothing of the fallen creation inherits the kingdom through works
(the
Law). One must be born into it as a new creation through faith in Jesus
Christ, and this makes one an heir "according to the promise." Jesus
redeemed His people from the curse of the law, "that the blessing of Abraham
might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the
promise of the Spirit through faith."
