Overview: The Church as the Bride of Christ
Synopsis
Love, the fruit of abiding in Christ, has a fourth avenue of expression:
love for Jesus Christ Himself. This is love to Christ as Redeemer and
Mediator between God and mankind. Christ has sanctified His people by
separating them out from under the law and placing them under His own rule.
Consequently the church is consecrated to Christ as His bride. Jesus said,
"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except
through Me." Love for Jesus Christ comes as one comes to know and understand
that He alone is the path to eternal life and the One through whom a person
is reconciled to God.
